Over the last few months I had plenty of time to spend in my work spaces due to our Covid-19 quarentine. To be honest, I have like 3 places in my house from which I work, lol! I run lots of businesses (and a Non-Profit), so I need a lot of room to spread out, hahaha! With that being said, I wasn’t able to work outside of the home for meetings and what not, so most of them had to be done from home on my computer. The more time I spent at one of my work spaces (where my laptop and most of my office necessities are located), the more I felt like I needed to liven it up and make it more of a sanctuary with a lot of flare, instead of one that’s super bland, blah.
Having a great office space to work in definitely helps with motivation, this is something I know extremely well! With a background as an educator I realized early on in my career that being super organized helps with productivity, and so does having a work space that has ample sunlight coming in, uncluttered surfaces, rejuvenating colors, and good furniture to work on. With a space like that, who wouldn’t want to get down to work ASAP. 😉
My particular space that needed a pick-me-up wasn’t easy to turn into an office in the first place! I mean, most of the windows are higher up and the room was dark. Sigh. Directly in front of my L-Shaped desk was a wall! How boring it was looking at that wall all day long. So I got an idea when I found a beautiful multi-purple butterfly fabric at JoAnn’s, then I located two sizes of ribbon from Amazon, and finally matching floral pins on Etsy!!! Yes, lots of support to my fellow entrepreneurs with online shops! It definitely helped with my shopping during our quarantine! After a bit of research, I set my mind on making a focal point on that bland, boring wall! I decided to go with a large ribbon board with a twist! Ahhhhhh, I was well on my way! 😉
Many people know that I absolutely love purple and butterflies are my symbol of strength and courage. Being the history major and geek that I am, I wanted to make my ribbon board into a vintage ‘lattice’ window that way it looks as though the butterflies are fluttering by! Yippee!! One thing I will say for sure if you are wanting to create an awesome workspace, you may want to try something a bit unconventional! By all means, it is YOUR home office, do whatcha like with it!!!!
There you have it! If you want to create a work space that will be productive, yet feel enjoyable and tidy, you must put a tiny bit of care into creating an office that feels like home! Pinterest has tons of ideas to assist you in creating the perfect office zen that integrates comfortably into the rest of your house. Let me know how it goes!!! I can’t wait to see the ideas you come up with!
