Not too long ago I mentioned how much I love being a ‘planner addict’! 🙂 Yes, this is a good thing! Heck, a GREAT THING!!! I talked about how planning in my planners helped me during a ‘dark’ time in my life. You can read about it more in a recent blog post… A Planner Diva Too? Yup, You Bet!
Now we are in mid-2020 and so many of us are quarantined due to Covid-19. So it’s the perfect time to pick up a new hobby to help balance the craziness that is currently surrounding you/us.
Since I’ve got you wondering what Purplicious Planning is, do let me explain. If you know my story, I am THE PURPLE DIVA. It didn’t happen overnight, yet ever so gradually. I am a domestic violence survivor and I came out of my shell like a snail. It took time to tell my story and start my journey of spreading awareness about this silent killer known as domestic violence. I began wearing little bits of purple here and there to remind myself of my journey and how far I had come, then before you know it my closet was bursting with tons of purples! I started self-proclaiming myself as the “Purple Diva” and it has now stuck. 😉 Yes, I do wear other colors just as long as the outfit has some purples in it. And you will find the same in my planner spreads. So when I speak of Purplicious Planning, I mean that my planner spreads have a purple vibe going on and for me, it is to remind myself once again of my journey…where I’ve been, where I am now, and where I’m going.
I will be sharing lots of my planner spreads down below. Check back often as I will slowly be adding new things! From the blog post I spoke of above, you will see that I’ve used a number of planners, but my current planner of choice is the Happy Planner Skinny Mini – I had a custom cover and inserts made for it which you’ll notice. And, I will also be going back and forth with the Happy Planner Classic Skinny as well. 🙂 So let me know what you think and if I’ve rubbed off on you…in a good way of course, lol!
In the beginning most of my planner sheets came from various Etsy shops because I needed my spreads to be mostly purple in color, so many of the spreads had to be custom ordered and that was right up my alley! But with all of this I had to make sure I took notice at the turn around time for it to be prepped and shipped, especially if the planner stickers were going to be for a certain event or holiday that particular week/month. So I set out on yet another remarkable journey!!! I wanted to be able to have my stickers faster, so I thought maybe I could be brave enough to start printing them at home. With that being said, I did the research and saw that a lot of planners were using sticker paper and purchasing downloadable printables from Etsy and other online sticker shops and I jumped right on in!
For a very long while, I truly enjoyed printing out my purplicious stickers onto my very own sticker paper, cutting each of the pieces out, then gluing them creatively into my planner with the perfect matching washi! However, as time went on and my schedule got even more hectic, this Purple Diva was losing time in her planners because I couldn’t always find the time to cut my weekly planner spreads out any longer. If you know me, you know my anxiety and this wasn’t making me happy at all. Remember from my previous post above, working in my planners is very therapeutic for me! So if I wasn’t able to get in my stress release, that meant the Purple Diva just might crack! :/ I absolutely didn’t want that to happen, which meant I had to figure something out super fast. So what does an extremely creative woman with a background in education do? She learns to create and print her own planner stickers, just like she did with her tons of worksheets, websites, and newsletters after all those many years of teaching, lol! Within a few weeks, VIOLA, I had made my very first planner spread! Hold up now! Was it easy? Heck naw! Did I say a few special words when learning how to use my cutting machine, you betcha! 😉 But am I proud of myself, damn straight! Once you get to know me you’ll see the determination I have once I put my mind towards doing something! This has become yet another passion of mine that has brought me so much joy! I say all of this once again so that you can find your peace. So you can find something that you enjoy, which will allow you TO BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY Y-O-U and enable you to have one more ‘rabbit’ in your hat to pull when it’s time to practice your self-care! 😉
I hope you enjoy my various Etsy spreads. Eventually I will share the spreads that I designed on my VERY OWN! 🙂 You can also keep up with me on Instagram….@ Purple_Diva_4Life!
