Giving Our Body What It Needs! Ever Thought of Detoxing Your Lymphatic System?

In our crazy, busy worlds today, who seriously has time to constantly figure out what our body needs? However, it is becoming ever so clear to me that we need to! When I became a divorced/single mom many moons ago, I was running on fumes day in and day out, well that is until I crashed! I was so busy being constantly focused on my four sons and what they needed, as well as trying to deal with major house-keeping duties, and trying to be the best educator I could be (at the time)! I was literally burning both candles at the end! Once I got ill due to fatigue and not giving my body what it needed, it was a reality check. My sweet boys needed me, which meant I needed to take better care of myself. So over the course of a few years, I became a huge Wellness Geek and pampering Diva! 😉

I started to seriously focus on my own personal self-care. Once I did this it was so sad that I really didn’t have any idea what I was missing out on until I felt just how fantastic I was actually feeling!! Seriously, you don’t have any earthly idea how poor your body is until you start feeling super amazing by giving your body what it needs. Your body truly starts to function how it was ultimately meant to.

Part of self-care is taking care of the WHOLE YOU, not just your feet or your face.  Self-care can include: eating healthier and giving your body better nutrition, focusing on a good sleep routine, going for a walk or taking your dog for a walk, including some exercise in your day, taking a luxury bubble bath or warm shower, taking a ‘sick day’ when you aren’t really ‘sick’, writing in a journal, giving yourself a facial, or a mani/pedi, hang out with friends, go to the movies, or develop a new hobby, the list can go on and on! The point that I am making is that by having the proper self-care it will enhance your overall health and well-being! If you have some time in the next few days or so, develop a self-care plan for yourself, which will help you sustain your wellness for the long-term!

All the ways that I have mentioned above are a great start to improving your overall self-care! Once again, when we talk about the WHOLE YOU, we mean those that connect with the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual parts of oneself. It can be challenging at first, but it must resonate with you and you’ve got to stick with it!

Like I stated, I’ve given you lots of great ways to start, but here’s just one more! 😉 Have you ever thought about detoxing your lymphatic system? Most people probably give a lot more thought to maintaining their weight than their circulation. However, if you’re interested in preventing disease and cleansing your body of toxins, pollutants, additives, and chemicals, your circulatory system should be your best friend! And it needs your help to stay strong. Here are some signs of a congested lymphatic system, which means your lymphatic fluid is not moving effectively and that toxins may be building up in your body…

  • Fatigue
  • Swollen glands
  • Puffiness in eyes or face
  • Swelling in the fingers (tight rings) or ankles
  • Bloating or holding on to water
  • Headaches
  • Sinus infections
  • Skin issues, such as dry or itchy skin
  • Soreness or stiffness upon waking
  • Constipation
  • Weight gain and extra belly fat
  • Breast swelling or tenderness
  • A sense of fogginess in the brain
  • Worsened allergies
  • Food sensitivities
  • Increased colds or flu

Now you know what can cause your lymphatic system to be clogged, what can you do about it? Here’s a small list to get you started!

  • Movement/Exercise
  • Dry Skin Brushing
  • Eating Clean
  • Limit your tight fitting clothing
  • Massage ~ there are lymphatic massages or lymphatic drainage therapy
  • Use cosmetics and skin care products that are free of chemicals and more naturally-based [ahem, like my Perfectly Posh!! 🙂 ] …it is important to understand that your skin is an organ of elimination and absorption, so adding more chemicals to your body will increase toxicity

I hope I’ve given you the desire to create your self-care plan, as well as a good reason to detox your lymphatic system! 🙂 By doing so, it will help you maintain your body in a balanced, healthier state! So there you have it folks, just a little bit of work each day can help keep your immune system and state of well-being going strong!!
